The best way to increase the value of your home is to two things; update your kitchen or update your bathroom and you can do this with tile. Kitchen renovations can be costly so let’s look at the bathroom. In a bathroom update you have no appliances to replace but a good bathroom renovation is not cheap. With that said you can focus your budget on things what will give you the best bang for your buck and one of those will be designer tile.

Designer tiles cost more than most tiles but you don’t have to break the bank to still get the effect you are looking for in your design. Pepper your more cost-effective tiles with some designer tiles in different shapes and colors, this will draw the eye away from the everyday tiles and focus on the designer one. You can also add a backsplash or a row of glass tiles or a mosaic design with the designer tiles or left over tile pieces.

Metallic colors are becoming more popular when trying to make a statement in your design. Use earthy colors with a pop of metallic or bright colors. Using black tiles will give your floor a timeless classic look and if you want to showcase art pieces, pictures or anything decorative tile one wall and add recessed shelves. Another great tile look is tile that look like wood floors, with these tiles you can create a masterpiece floor with beautiful mosaic focus tiles.

Spend time looking at different rooms, magazines and website to determine the look you want to capture in your space. Look for sales and always ask for discounts especially if you are doing a renovation, if you are only using the designer tile to create focus tile sections you can spend a little less and for the other tiles giving you some wiggle room in your budget. Once you have narrowed it down then you are ready to design your own space and make a statement in any room. Tile isn’t just for the bathroom anymore!
