Different Styles of Bathroom Lighting

You may think that choosing a bathroom light can just be simple or you may be on the other spectrum and feel overwhelmed. It’s actually pretty important to choose the correct light as the vanity, tub area and shower all require different lighting choices. But you also want to make sure your bathroom’s overall design is still cohesive.  There are a few tips to help you choose the correct lighting for your bathroom.

When choosing lighting for your vanity side-mounted sconces are one of the best lighting options for a bathroom. You can use one on either side of a mirror or mounted onto a mirror directly with shades placed at eye-level. You don’t want to place them too high or your lighting will be off.

Something else you will want to consider is choosing different layers of lighting. Any bathroom can benefit from three layers of light to enhance the beauty of the space. You will want to make sure your bathroom lighting is distributed evenly throughout the bathroom. You can actually opt for a combination of chandeliers, pendants or flush mounts for the second layers and third layer of accent lighting.

If you don’t like sconces or would rather a different type of lighting, you can opt for some pendent lights. They are stylish and also elegant. This would be a nice accent lighting choice.

Make sure you choose all of the same finishes. You don’t want to mix and match the finishes as it will make your overall design appear unfinished.  Brass and chrome finishes are the most versatile, as they can easily complement other bath accessories.

And don’t forget that size does matter and plays a big part in choosing your lights. The right fixture can make a statement and set the tone for the bathroom’s design. Make sure not to choose lights that are too large for your area. It may do the opposite of what you are going for. It may make your bathroom appear smaller, rather than larger.
