When it comes to renovations, sometimes the simplest change in hardware and accessories can provide a complete transformation to a room. Each year there is something fresh and innovative to keep your bathroom up to date.
What is new in bathroom trends?
There are many things to consider when purchasing a shower door. When you choose the right kind of door, it can truly enhance the look and feel of your bathroom. In most cases, your shower door is what brings the entire room together. That being said, there are a lot of factors to consider.
Is your family in need of another bathroom, a second or even a third bathroom? This bathroom is all about function over relaxation, the idea is to get in and get out: toilet, sink, and/or shower while keeping it simple. But this doesn’t mean the space has to be plain Jane or ho hum. Adding interesting tile, updated fixtures, a unique mirror or decorative light fixture will spruce up this space.

With all of today’s small bathtub ideas and options, fear not—it can be done with a little research and creativity. Read More

However, keep in mind when planning that if you must move the plumbing to accommodate your new design, the price tag of your project will be much higher than if the “guts” of your bathroom can stay put. That said, layout options are more limited when relying on existing plumbing hookups, drains, ventilation, etc. Read More
Before you shop for shower fixtures, it’s important to understand the basics of shower controls. What options are there? What will fit your space and budget best?
There are three basic systems for controlling the water temperature and flow rates:
- Simple single levers or knobs that control both water temperature and flow
- Combination temperature controls, which can include two or even three extra fixtures
- A separate thermostatic control valve (temperature only) and flow valve (volume only)
There’s little that makes me crazier than a squeaking shower floor. Because there are so many reasons your floor could be squeaking, it can be tricky to see how to fix it — or if it’s fixable. Your best bet is to prevent squeaks in your fiberglass or acrylic shower base from ever getting started. Here’s what to watch out for.
